U.S. Senator Rand Paul has warned that designating Russia as a “state sponsor of terrorism” would be a reckless escalation that could risk a wider war.

Speaking as lawmakers debate new legislation targeting Moscow, Paul argued that Americans do not want another prolonged conflict and urged Congress to reject the bill. He called instead for a focus on diplomacy, peace efforts in Ukraine, and protecting U.S. national interests.
