Scenes of chaos erupted inside the Mexico City Congress as a group of female lawmakers were caught on camera fighting, shoving and pulling hair during a heated legislative session. The confrontation broke out after the appointment of a single head for a new transparency institute, which opposition lawmakers say ignored committee guidelines. Members of the opposition PAN party accused the ruling Morena bloc of authoritarian tactics and silencing debate, while Morena leaders condemned the use of physical violence. The Congress later issued a statement denouncing all violence inside the chamber.
