Marcos rejects PH label as 'ISIS training spot'
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. dismisses as 'misleading' claims branding the Philippines as a hotspot for Islamic State training, amid reports that the suspects in the Bondi Beach shooting incident in Sydney had previously traveled to the country. Citing a statement from the National Security Council (NSC), Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said during a press conference on Dec. 17, 2025 that there was no validated report or confirmation that the individuals involved in the Bondi Beach incident received any form of training in the Philippines.
