Recovery, rebuilding Cebu's priority in 2026

Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro says recovery and rebuilding will be the priority in 2026 for the province while continuing its development initiatives. Speaking during a press conference on Dec. 17, 2025, Baricuatro described the coming year as promising, citing planned investments and programs aimed at strengthening Cebu’s economy. She also welcomed Cebu’s recognition as the richest province in the country for the 11th straight year, stressing that sustained economic strength should translate into improved public services and benefits for Cebuanos. A strong earthquake in late October and a series of strong storms in November plunged Cebu into a state of calamity as residents struggled to cope with the devastation.
