In Indonesia’s city of Padang, dozens of women have been cooking 2.5 tonnes of rendang beef to send to victims of devastating floods and landslides across Sumatra. Working non-stop for nearly a week, the volunteers prepared the traditional dish using donated beef and spices, aiming to provide long-lasting, ready-to-eat food for affected communities.

The cyclone-triggered floods have killed more than 1,000 people and displaced thousands, cutting off remote areas such as parts of Aceh. Local officials are urging Jakarta to declare a national emergency to accelerate rescue and relief efforts.
