A “terrifying explosion” rocked a Moscow neighbourhood after a car bomb killed senior Russian military official Fanil Sarvarov, according to investigators. Eyewitnesses described chaos and shock as the blast ripped apart a vehicle in a parking lot on Yasenevaya Street.

Russian authorities say an explosive device was planted beneath the car, fatally wounding the general. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into alleged murder and illegal trafficking of explosives. Officials say several theories are being examined, including possible involvement of Ukrainian special services, though no evidence has been publicly presented. Kyiv has not commented.
