The goblet squat is one of the easiest squat variations because of the additional weight added in front of your body, which shifts your center of mass forward. With that shift, you're less likely to feel like you're going to roll over onto your back, making it easier to effectively load your joints.
That effectiveness makes you feel like the range of motion requirements for the ankle and the hips are decreased, while in reality you're just loading them from a better angle. This allows you to stay more upright, keeping a strong position, with more ease in comparison to a simple bodyweight squat. All that makes the goblet squat a great preparation exercise for all other squat variants.
