En un pueblo de Levante Español, vive Justo, el cura. Es muy querido por todos los vecinos por su forma de ayudar a los demás. Agapito, el alcalde comunista, tiene una hija, que al quedar embarazada de su novio, el hijo de Santiago, el médico del pueblo, que es de Alianza Popular y pensando que su padre puede matarle, dice que el hijo que espera es del cura. Justo se ve mezclado en todo este follón, que Matilde, la chica embarazada, le cuenta en confesión, atándole de pies y manos para defenderse. Justo, acosado por Agapito, el Obispo y todo el pueblo, decide colgar los hábitos, pero en el último momento y ayudado por chicas del pueblo consigue que la verdad salga a relucir…

In a village on the Spanish Levante coast lives Justo, the priest. He is beloved by all the villagers for his helpfulness. Agapito, the communist mayor, has a daughter who, upon becoming pregnant by her boyfriend, the son of Santiago, the village doctor (a member of the People's Alliance), and fearing her father might kill her, claims the child is the priest's. Justo finds himself caught up in this mess, which Matilde, the pregnant woman, reveals to him in confession, tying his hands and feet to defend herself. Harassed by Agapito, the Bishop, and the entire village, Justo decides to leave the priesthood, but at the last minute, aided by some local girls, he manages to bring the truth to light…
