Will Zang, Founder of Blade Vista Public Relations and an expert in Asian and international cinema, spoke to CGTN Europe about what he described as a structurally transformative year for the global box office.
He noted that much of the growth is now coming from overseas markets, particularly Asia and China. Animation has emerged as a consistently strong genre, with the top three films all belonging to this category.
Zang also highlighted how China’s film industry is developing a more holistic approach to intellectual property, turning films into multi-faceted entertainment experiences. At the same time, audiences are becoming more selective and mature, driven by greater access to diverse content.
Looking ahead to 2026, he expects releases from legendary filmmakers as well as sequels to popular franchises to shape the global film landscape.
