Dirty Martha — This Is It!! 1969 (USA, heavy blues psych brass rock)
Back in 1968, two inseparable friends, Duke D'Anastasio and Tony Papa (who played with his brother, Tom D'Anastasio, in the high school band Nickels n Dimes), attended a concert by a visiting band. Incidentally, this band turned out to be Blood, Sweat & Tears, featuring their new lead singer, David Clayton Thomas. After attending the concert, the friends were so impressed by the music performed by Blood, Sweat & Tears that they decided to form their own band and play in the same style. Six months later, a vocal and instrumental ensemble was formed with the pretentious name "Dirty Martha's Music Company," later shortened to "Dirty Martha." The musicians registered at MSI Recording Studios, where, alongside covers, they began writing their own material. Dirty Martha performed extensively in Camden City, New Jersey, and other cities. They made desperate attempts to establish their career, repeatedly traveling to New York City and submitting their demos to The Brill Building. But after countless rejections, Dirty Martha ceased to exist. Of the band members, only Tony Papa, who had spent the last 30 years in Los Angeles, remained in the music business. But it was he who retained the band's demo recordings, and it was only more than 40 years later that Dirty Martha's music was finally released! On February 15, 2011, The Gear Fab Label released the material on CD.
