More than 240,000 devotees took part in the annual Penitential Walk with Jesus in the early hours of Thursday, Jan. 8, marking the opening of Fiesta Señor 2026 and the start of the Sinulog season.
Devotees began gathering before dawn, filling the stretch of Fuente Osmeña as they carried candles, prayed, and sang hymns during the solemn procession from Fuente Circle Osmeña to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.
