Marcos: New classrooms in fire-hit QC school to be completed by June
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday promised that the construction of a new building at San Francisco High School in Quezon City would be finished by June 2026 in time for the start of classes. The President checked reconstruction work at SFHS, which was damaged by fire in June last year. Marcos said the new facility would have 36 classrooms, tripling the original 12-classroom plan, to address overcrowding and improve learning conditions.
"We have asked SM to also build 24 classrooms, so this is the construction for the new classroom that will be done by public works for the DepEd [Department of Education]," Marcos said, referring to SM Prime Holdings Inc. which owns the nearby shopping mall.
