Russia on Friday stated that Greenland is officially a territory of Denmark and described the ongoing crisis surrounding the island as “extraordinary” from the standpoint of international law. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted the unusual situation comes amid U.S. statements about potential monetary offers to acquire Greenland, while Russia criticized Western double standards. Moscow also said it is monitoring developments closely as the situation evolves.
