प्रयागराज माघ मेले में शंकराचार्य स्वामी अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद के शिष्यों और पुलिस के बीच धक्का-मुक्की हो गई। अफसरों से भी झड़प हुई। इसके बाद पुलिस ने शिष्यों को दौड़ाकर पकड़ लिया और उन्हें हिरासत में ले लिया। एक साधु को पुलिस ने चौकी में गिरा-गिराकर पीटा।इसके बाद शंकराचार्य नाराज हो गए और शिष्यों को छुड़वाने पर अड़ गए। उन्हें अफसरों ने समझाने की हर कोशिश की, हाथ जोड़े, लेकिन वे नहीं माने। करीब 2 घंटे तक गहमा-गहमी चलती रही। इसके बाद पुलिस ने शंकराचार्य के सभी समर्थकों को हिरासत में ले लिया।

A scuffle broke out between the disciples of Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand and the police at the Prayagraj Magh Mela. There were also clashes with the officers. Following this, the police chased down the disciples, apprehended them, and took them into custody. One sadhu was reportedly beaten by the police at the police outpost. The Shankaracharya became enraged and insisted on the release of his disciples. Officers tried everything to pacify him, even pleading with folded hands, but he remained adamant. The tense situation continued for about two hours. Finally, the police took all of the Shankaracharya's supporters into custody.
