U.S. President Donald Trump said negotiations over the Ukraine war are “getting close” as he spoke to reporters in Davos ahead of a planned meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump said discussions would also involve Russian President Vladimir Putin, either later the same day or soon after, stressing the urgency of ending the conflict. “A lot of people are being killed. We’ve got to get it done,” Trump said, warning that failure to reach a deal would be “a disgrace.”
The remarks come on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, where global leaders are focused on security, diplomacy, and efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
