During a House Judiciary Committee hearing for former special prosecutor Jack Smith Thursday, Rep. Jasmine Crockett said that Trump only ran for president so he would not be convicted for crimes related to the January 6, 2021 storming of the U.S. Capitol. Crockett went on to accuse Republicans who voted to overturn the 2020 election results of bearing responsibility in the January 6 events.
