Supachai Chearavanont — the youngest son of Thai billionaire Dhanin Chearavanont and head of Arise Digital Technology — has agreed to buy Norwegian telecom group Telenor’s roughly 24.95% stake in Thailand’s True Corporation for about 39 billion Norwegian kroner (≈ $3.9 billion) as part of a strategy to grow digital businesses like AI, cloud and cybersecurity. Arise also has an option to buy Telenor’s remaining 5.35% stake within two years. As a result of the deal, Supachai stepped down as CEO of the Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group to focus on managing Arise’s telecom-tech investments. True continues expanding its 5G network and digital services. Forbes news.
