A disturbing video from Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh, has triggered widespread outrage after showing a family being forcibly stopped on the road, dragged out of their car, and brutally assaulted by a mob allegedly led by the village head’s husband.

The incident took place in Kachhuna village, where the victims—including a woman advocate, her husband, and her brother-in-law—were attacked in broad daylight. The viral video shows the car being blocked mid-road, after which around a dozen men armed with sticks and iron rods surround the vehicle and assault the occupants.

In the footage, the male victims are seen being beaten so severely that one collapses to the ground, yet the attackers continue to strike him. The woman advocate is also chased and beaten as she tries to escape. Her screams and the attackers’ threats are clearly audible in the video.

Dispute and Allegations

According to the complaint, the violence stemmed from a dispute between Mohammad Naseem, husband of the village head, and Salim, a resident of Takiya. The conflict allegedly escalated, leading to a planned attack on the advocate’s family, reportedly carried out at the village headman’s behest. The complainant has also alleged that threats were issued to deter any protest.

Police Action

Based on the woman advocate’s complaint, police have registered a case under serious sections against 12 named accused, including Mohammad Naseem, along with 50–60 unidentified persons.

Hardoi ASP Subodh Kumar Gautam stated that the accused are being identified using the viral video footage and that efforts are underway to arrest those involved.

The incident has once again raised concerns over lawlessness, misuse of power, and mob violence in rural areas, with many demanding swift and strict action against the accused.
