Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the launch of the Khelo India Mission in Budget 2026 .
Sitharaman emphasised that the expansion of the mission would create jobs in the sports sector.
The proposed mission will focus on dedicated training centres, development of coaches and support staff, integration of sports science and technology, promotion of leagues and competitions, and creation and upgradation of sports infrastructure.
