The government will intensify efforts to promote safer internet use in 2026 as cyber threats such as online scams, cyberbullying and child abuse continue to rise.
Speaking at the 2026 Safer Internet Day launch organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on Sunday (Feb 8), Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the focus has expanded beyond connectivity and affordability to include user safety, noting that criminals are increasingly shifting from physical crimes to more organised cybercrime.
