India is preparing to approve a landmark ₹3.25 lakh crore deal for 114 French Rafale fighter jets ahead of President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Delhi, set to become the country’s largest-ever defense purchase. The agreement will sharply expand Indian Air Force combat power and includes advanced weapons, trainers, maintenance packages, and long-term logistics support to ensure sustained operational readiness across western and northern fronts.
Around 100 aircraft are expected to be manufactured in India under the Make in India strategic partnership model with significant technology transfer to boost the domestic aerospace sector. India will become one of the biggest non-French operators of Rafales, building on the existing fleet of 36 jets and the separate ₹63,000-crore order for 26 naval variants for carrier operations.
