राज्यसभा में नेता प्रतिपक्ष और कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे ने ओडिशा की आंगनवाड़ी घटना और जातिगत भेदभाव को लेकर गंभीर चिंता जताई। उन्होंने कहा कि सामाजिक न्याय केवल नारा नहीं, बल्कि संविधान की आत्मा है और इसकी रक्षा हम सभी की जिम्मेदारी है। खड़गे ने बताया कि ओडिशा में एक आंगनवाड़ी केंद्र में केवल इसलिए तीन महीने से बहिष्कार चल रहा है क्योंकि भोजन एक दलित महिला द्वारा तैयार किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने बताया कि ऐसे भेदभाव से बच्चों के मानसिक और शारीरिक विकास पर नकारात्मक असर पड़ता है और यह संविधान के अनुच्छेद 21(क) और 47 के तहत शिक्षा और पोषण अधिकार के मूल सिद्धांतों के खिलाफ है। उन्होंने सरकार से त्वरित और निष्पक्ष कार्रवाई, दोषियों को दंडित करने और पीड़ितों को सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने का आग्रह किया। साथ ही, आंगनवाड़ियों में जागरूकता अभियान चलाकर बच्चों में समानता और सम्मान के संस्कार विकसित करने की आवश्यकता बताई।

In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of the Opposition and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed deep concern over the Odisha Anganwadi incident and issues of caste-based discrimination. He emphasized that social justice is not merely a slogan but the very spirit of the Constitution, and protecting it is a collective responsibility. Kharge highlighted that in Odisha, an Anganwadi center has been boycotted for three months simply because meals were prepared by a Dalit woman worker. He stressed that such discrimination negatively impacts the physical and mental development of children and violates fundamental principles under Articles 21(k) and 47 of the Constitution, which guarantee the right to education and proper nutrition. Kharge urged the government to take swift and impartial action, punish the guilty, and ensure the safety and justice of victims. He also called for awareness campaigns in Anganwadis to promote social harmony and instill values of equality and respect in children from an early age.
