Ferndale Skate Park, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Wales was set up by local residents to create an indoor skate park facility providing a safe haven for young people, allowing them to play their chosen sports and feel warm and safe – off the streets and out of trouble. Lottery funding finances the lease, rates and most of the eight salaries for the facility, five of which are 18-21 year olds who needed employment.
