Very little is known about Danny Altier, who a was a Chicago-based saxophonist of whom only one record is known. The present side feature an outstanding performance by cornetist Muggsy Spanier. The group was probably a pickup one; Muggsy was with the Ray Miller Orchestra at the time, and Jess Stacy and George Wettling were probably working regularly in Chicago with other bands. This wonderful record, with vocal by Frank Sylvano, was made in 1928.
