It is a rather unusual syndrome characterized by a multitude of very peculiar sensations, including paresthesias, pain, aching, and weakness of the lower extremities. The tingling and numbness is frequently associated with involuntary movements and restlessness of the legs, especially at night, from which the name of the syndrome arises. There are an estimated 5 to 10 million people who suffer from Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS).
