Victor Aloysius Meyers (1898-1990), aka Vic(k) Meyers and Vic Myers led a great Seattle territory band. He could play violin, but by the age of 18, he was a drummer in a three piece group that played each summer at Seaside,. At 21, in 1919 he got a 2-yr contract to play in the Rose Room in Seattle’s Hotel Butler. His recording career lasted from around 1923 till 1929. By early 1932 Vic Meyers was back in Seattle, playing at the Trianon, a ballroom that had opened in 1927. He also operated Seattle’s Club Victor. He ran for Mayor, but unsuccessfully. Subsequently, he ran for lieutenant governor. He won the nomination. For the next 20 years, 4 more elections, he kept this position until Eisenhower got into office in 1952. Twice during these years Vic tried to run again for Mayor of Seattle in 1938 and in 1946. He also studied parliamentary law and presided over the Senate. During all this period, he kept leading his band. This brilliant record, with uncredited vocal, was made in 1929.
