From action comedy to a Shakespeare adaption, Scottish film star Gerard Butler has revealed his excitement at upcoming film, Coriolanus.

"It's a brilliant adaption," the 300 star said.

The screenplay was written by John Logan who wrote Aviator and Gladiator, and marks the directorial debut of Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes.

Butler, 40, said: "Ralph Fiennes who is the nicest guy and a genius, and so passioante about this project and he's directing it.

"He's also playing Coriolanus so for me it's jumping in and playing his arch enemy Tullus Aufidius, he now addresses me as his Tullus Aufidius."

Shooting has only just begun on the tragedy which is expected to open next year.
