Between the eggs and the lamb, the chocolate and the bunnies, there are so many traditions we associate with Easter, but believe it or not, there are longstanding customs behind them all. Noted food historian, Francine Segan says there are so many spring food rituals, and shedding light on the traditions behind them will help us enjoy this wonderful time of year even more. Francine discusses: Eggs: Eggs are a probably the most common traditional food that comes to mind when you think about Easter. But where does that tradition come from? Why do we dye eggs? Why do we bake them whole into breads and cakes? Why do we hunt for them and mold our chocolate in egg shapes? And why do we sometimes hide presents in eggs?
