The sixth annual World Water Bombing Championships has created some waves at Ponds Forge leisure centre in Sheffield.

Scores of people turned out in fancy dress to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

"Style isn't the important thing really," said MC Simon Francis. "It's about just ... making the biggest splash you can and looking as silly as you can, I think that what it is really."

Teams with names such as The Fatboys, The Book Worms and You're Having A Giraffe were all cheered on by the 400 plus strong crowd. Each member of the teams have to bomb into the pool for glory and points. They were awarded points for style as well as the biggest and widest splash which was measured on a giant splash'o'meter.

The competition lasted for over one and half hours, but in the end it was local lad George Perkins or "Spartacus" from Sheffield, who took top honours in the individual's with a score of 39 points out of the maximum 40.
