The annual high heel race in Madrid, Spain, attracts an eclectic crowd to watch a competition with a 400 euro top prize.

The heels have to be at least 15 cm in height and you have to totter down a street in the first part of the race.

Then you need to put a wig and a touch of lipstick on before embarking on the second half of the race.

It's an amazing 'feet' if you win. But, of course, it's a 'shoe in' for whoever does emerge victorious.

Winner Miguel said: "It was unbelievable. This is the best thing that has happened to me in my entire life. Well, other than my wedding."

The race forms part of a week-long gay pride celebration in Chueca, the gay district in Madrid.
