At least one person is missing after a mudslide flooded a tiny village on Italy's Amalfi Coast.

Earth movers and diggers worked through the night removing debris and rubble after the mudslide threw cars down streets and piled vehicles into mangled mounds in the centre of the village.

A 25-year-old bar owner is still missing after the incident which happened after a river burst its banks during the night.

The coastguard have been searching at sea and along the coastline as fears rise that the missing victim may have been swept into the nearby water.

The river Dragone, which normally runs underneath the village, burst after recent heavy rainfall.

The village, which has a population of around 900, is famed as one of the Amalfi coasts most beautiful attractions.
