It appears that Stephen Fry may have left Twitter.

On Sunday the TV presenter and wordsmith extraordinaire posted a tweet which read: "So some f****ing paper misquotes a humorous interview I gave, which itself misquoted me and now I'm the Antichrist. I give up.... bye bye."

It comes after Stephen found himself in hot water for two seperate incidents - the first over controversial comments he made in a magazine interview, the second for posting pictures from the Harry Potter set on his Twitter account.

Over the weekend, The Observer printed comments from an interview Stephen did with Attitude magazine in which it seemed Stephen suggested that men find it hard to believe women are as into sex as they are.

However his Twitter post claims the paper misquoted him and his comments were meant in a humorous manner.

Meanwhile the 53-year-old has also taken down pictures he put on his Twitter page from the set of the new Harry Potter movie.

Stephen has access to the set as he is filming Sherlock Holmes 2 in the same studios in Hertfordshire.

Last year, the host of QI quit Twitter after his tweets were described as 'boring' by a follower.
