A major fire broke out a chemical factory in India's Vadodara City on Monday. 1 worker was killed and 4 others were injured.
Sources say the fire started due to an explosion at the plant.
The firefighters battled the blaze for nearly four hours to bring the situation under control.
[H. J. Tapariya, Chief Fire Officer, Vadodara Municipal Corp.]:
"We successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby units. We will conduct a search operation with the help of the company staff, as the locals say that 1 or 2 employees are still trapped inside. To overcome those fears we will conduct a search operation."
While many of the workers escaped as soon as the fire broke out, several still remained trapped in the unit.
A search operation has been launched to find the missing workers.
Around 40 - 50 workers usually work in the factory at night.
The company manufactures industrial solvents like hydrogen peroxide, a highly inflammable substance.
