Life in a College Town by Reid Baer
-
I’ve lived here forever alone
in this old house previously owned
probably by a grave tenured
professor since it was first built
and I’ve thought at least a handful
of Times how I’d remodel the
place, maybe lower the vaulted
ceiling, or refurbish the loo …
Oh, so much dreaming about the
structure I hardly ever leave
the place and never quite make it
fit either. I sit comfortably
a hermit remembering my
parochial childhood. I grew
up living close to the Center
of Learning … but never in it.
