Take a tour of Montreuil-Bellay Chateau in France – part of the World’s Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.

Montreuil-Bellay is a lovely town located near the northwestern coast of France.

It is a very solid, practical fortress, built on one of the town's hills.

The Montreuil-Bellay Chateau was built in large part between the 13th and 15th centuries and has been used almost continually.

Because of a series of medieval battles between the French and English, the castle was built in various different phases and incorporates many architectural styles.

During the French Revolution, this veritable stronghold was used as a prison; it later returned to private ownership early in the 19th century.

The chateau also provides a view nearly as impressive as the structure itself.
