Based on the concept of "Music being the universal language", the first-ever edition of the Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA) has been formulated to recognise and acknowledge Indian music and musicians. In addition to the ten non-film and 11 film music categories, there will be an award for the Best Anti-Piracy Initiative. GIMA received 940 entries including 223 albums. Six Bollywood films - '3 Idiots', 'Karthik Calling Karthik', 'Kaminey', 'Ishqiya', 'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' - have been nominated in the film-music category. Chevrolet GIMA is all set to honour and applaud talent across film and non-film music with the vision of giving different music genres the same platform, importance and recognition. In its efforts to bring the entire Indian music industry together, GIMA will operate under the guidance of its Advisory Board encompassing stalwarts from the music and film industry such as Vijay Lazarus, Bhushan Kumar, Dr. L. Subramaniam, Pt.
