Just about every child has been fascinated by prehistoric animals, and Zdenek Triskala was no exception.
He fulfilled his dream, and now works recreating the lives of ancient mammals in contemporary exhibitions.
[Zdenek Triskala, Exhibition Creator]:
"We are standing next to one of the largest mammals of the Ice Age. It is Elasmotherium. Or sometimes also translated as a unicorn. It's real form of the mythical unicorn. This animals have been found on cave paintings and is thought that they served as a symbol of abundance."
Children in particular adore the exhibition:
[Petr Novak, Exhibition Visitor]:
"This exhibition presents the animals in full life, how they lived."
The exhibition is based on paleontological evidence, and was created in cooperation with experts from Charles University.
Collaboration between artists and scientists isn't always easy, but can be beneficial.
[Zdenek Triskala, Exhibition Creator]:
“The sculptor can give life to the model, and the palaeontologist ensures everything is correct. The combination of both, so called paleoart, is exactly what we're trying to achieve."
Two exhibitions about prehistoric mammals have been created.
The first exhibition is on tour across South America and the second, bigger exhibition is here in Prague.
