"Yellow billed Choughs (pronounced as 'chuff') flying over the snout of Gaumukh glacier, Gangotri National Park, Uttarakhand, India. The Chough is a member of the crow family, and Choughs are excellent fliers, soaring over mountain winds, thermals and strong air currents. There is a red-billed variant of the Chough known as the Red-billed Chough. In winter, most Himalayan birds migrate to lower altitudes at the foothills. In fact, few birds that we see quite commonly during the winter months across the northern plains and over the peninsula, or even up to Sri Lanka, breed in the Himalayas during the summer months.
