Ladakh is the highest plateau of the Indian state of Kashmir with much of it being over 3,000 m (9,800 ft). It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Kashmir. Ladakh is a land of snow carved peaks, translucent Lakes, barren terrain and mystic culture. Ladakh has a population of about 260,000 which is a blend of many different races.
