Last night, catching up on news before bed, I caught an MSNBC report on home wreckers, where contractors had false ads in the Yellow Pages (no license, even though it was advertised) or where they left jobs only part way through. Doing the criminal, credit, and reference checks was clearly important and could have saved some home owners a huge amount of grief and money.
