Mass protests in Yemen.
Thousands of protesters take to the streets of Sanaa, repeating calls for the president President Ali Abdullah Saleh to quit.
Protesters are marking their anger at Saleh's surprise return to Yemen last Friday. He had been in Saudi Arabia for three months receiving treatment after a June bomb attack.
Since his comeback, fighting has tapered off, but any movement on a transfer of power appears slow.
SOUNDBITE: Prostester Yehia al Matari, saying: (Arabic):
"We want to come out of this oppression, this injustice and dictatorship. Everyone should know that we will not turn back - we will either come out victorious or die as martyrs."
The demonstrations come on the same day that Yemen's defense minister survived a suicide bomb attack on his convoy in the south of the country.
Last week a surge of fighting erupted between the military and soldiers who have joined the demonstrators, sparking fears of civil war on the doorstep of top oil exporter Saudi Arabia.
Negotiators say a deal to transfer power seems close in theory but the opposition and the government have yet to make any moves to finalize it. The ruling party says it wants to hold talks to complete the deal. The opposition argues the plan is fine and there is nothing to talk about.
