http://www.FTV.com/videos LONDON - In this Spring/Summer 2012 from Ann-Sofie Back for London Fashion Week, she experiments with the Scandinavian idea of jantelagen, which is the idea that one cannot stand out from the crowd. It comes from the writings of Aksel Sandemose set in a fictional town called Jante and the law, which is now used in Scandinavian society is enforced by the same people who follow it. Ann-Sofie's collection seems to be just that--so detailed if you read between the lines (the hems are tailored, the fabrics are luxe, the piece structured) but its washed over with a simple palette of cream, white, and stripes once in a while. With so much going on in terms of prints at both New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week, it's a nice change for the senses and perhaps, jantelagen at its finest--subtle with a statement.
