reek musician Yanni adopted a baby female panda from southwest China on Sunday.

The two-month-old panda is from the Chengdu Giant Panda Research Base. The base invited Yanni to adopt the panda, saying they had chosen the Greek music star because of his inspiring and harmonious music.

Traditionally an invitation to adopt a panda is reserved for countries rather than personalities.

The singer has named the panda "Santorini" which is partly based on the Greek word for "peace".
