Occupy Wall Street Union March - Oct 5, 2011
Music by Grace Graupe-Pillard
I wanted to support public service employees and I did do just that. The Occupy Wall Street march was peaceful, diverse and unfocused which was refreshing. Need for school teachers to be respected, need for art in education, Unions fighting for the right to organize, etc. There were a plethora of signs
There were old-time hippies, Socialists, Communists, Goth and Punk kids, families, grannys, grandpas, white and blue collar workers and an overwhelming amount of students. The police hemmed us in - and herded us at an excruciatingly slow pace from Foley Square to Liberty Park.
One chant - THIS IS THE FACE OF DEMOCRACY was very poignant. I am glad that I could be another body AND voice to make myself heard so that people realize that we - the people are not silent.
