U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton held further meetings with Philippines President Benigno Aquino.
Clinton met with Aquino in Manila, where they discussed a partnership for growth, that seeks to assist near take-off economies like the Philippines in strengthening governance and improving the business environment.
Her visit also marks the 60th anniversary of the U.S.-Philippines Mutual Defence Treaty, as the U.S. seeks to diversify its engagement with its security ally.
After her palace visit, Clinton's convoy was heading to a youth forum at the National Museum when student activists threw paint balls at the passing cars.
Around two dozen students went after the black tinted cars and pelted them with red paint.
Policemen immediately ran after the protesters but let them go after the convoy passed.
