STORY: Oscar winning actress Meryl Streep hit the red carpet in New York to celebrate the opening of her new film "The Iron Lady."
The movie tells the tale of the UK's longest-serving Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's rise and fall from grace. Throughout, the film imagines how Thatcher reconciles her ground-breaking history with the cost of power. The movie, which is not a bio-pic, chooses specific incidents in Thatcher's life to tell a bigger story about the cost of power.
"The Iron Lady" is the second time director Phyllida Lloyd and Streep have worked together. The pair started their director, actor relationship on the set of "Mamma Mia" in 2008 and Lloyd considers the reunion a gift.
Young British actors Harry Lloyd and Alexandra Roach are still in a bit of shock over being cast in a film with Streep. Roach said she took advantage of the opportunity to learn as much as she could from Streep.
"The Iron Lady" opens in New York and Los Angeles on December 30.
