Hundreds of Israelis took to the streets in Tel Aviv on Tuesday night to protest the spiraling price hike for petrol, bread and water and other essential services. Towards the end of the protest one of the demonstrators threatened to set himself on fire saying he has not money to pay for fuel or living costs. In an effort to quell rising public anger and prevent a general strike planned by the Histadrut Labor Federation, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz agreed to roll back on the increases in petrol, water and public transport and raise the minimum wage. The move failed to appease the public who said the measures were inadequate.
