Intel has acquired the Israeli company Telmap that develops navigation software. Israeli media reports said Intel is believed to have paid in the vicinity of $300 million to acquire the Israeli company. Telmap develops and markets navigation software for mobile phones under the Navigation brand. The company is considered a world leader in mobile location based services that include navigation, mapping, routing and content exploration and discovery. Telmap will become part of Intel's consumer services division and support Intel AppUp. its app store for consumers who want to download software for their mobile phones and under devices. Based in Herzliya, Telmap has 210 employees. It primarily works with wireless operators in Europe and powers such applications as Orange Maps, Vodafone's Find and Gol. Some seven million subscribers use the company's services worldwide.
