Syrian forces in Hama are said to have broken up a protest marking 30 years since the massacre in the city by troops loyal to President Assad's father.

Planned demonstrations on Thursday were prevented by the security presence, reports say. But amateur video purports to show a rally there to honour the 10,000 people killed in 1982 when an Islamist uprising was crushed.
