Malaria is a huge problem in Nigeria where an estimated 300,000 people die from malaria every year. 70% of these avoidable deaths are of children under 5 and pregnant women. The area in and around Benin City is badly affected. 1 million long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) are needed in this region.
20,000 nets will be distributed in Benin City coordinated through the Josie Russell Children's Healthcare Centre:
- 7,000 nets via the Josie Russell clinic, Idumwina village
- 5,000 nets via the Irrua Federal Teaching Hospital, Benin City
- 3,000 nets via the Refera Medical Centre, Afuze District
- 2,500 nets via the Modic Medical Centre, Benin City
- 2,500 nets via the Health Centre, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun
